ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
RiseBoro Community Partnership is at an exciting inflection point. With a $50M+ budget, more than 150 programs spanning affordable housing, senior services, youth development, legal support, and education, and a legacy of deep community trust, RiseBoro is ready to match its decades of impact with a bold, next-generation fundraising vision.
RiseBoro is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and strategic Vice President of Development (VP) to help shape, launch, and guide a strong and effective development program. This is an opportunity for a resourceful fundraiser and leader who enjoys building sustainable systems, engaging people, and achieving meaningful results.
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the senior leadership team, the VP will drive the strategy, culture, and infrastructure to secure RiseBoro’s long-term philanthropic future. Partnering with the CEO, Board, and fundraising counsel, this leader will inspire stakeholders to invest in RiseBoro’s mission and unlock new levels of impact for communities across New York City.
Key Responsibilities include:
Organizational Leadership
- Partner with the CEO, senior leadership, and program teams to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities.
- Champion a culture of philanthropy across the organization, engaging staff and Board members in fundraising efforts.
- Guide and support Board members to be effective fundraising partners and establish a mid-to- long-term strategy to grow the Board.
Development Strategy & Fundraising
- Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive multi-year development strategy.
- Oversee all aspects of major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, individual giving, and events funding.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-level donor relationships.
- Work closely with the CEO to support his fundraising work with a portfolio of high-level donors.
Team & Infrastructure
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing development team.
- Establish and manage systems, processes, and tools (including CRM) to support donor cultivation, stewardship, and reporting.
- Oversee prospect research, gift processing, and development communications.
Donor Engagement & Communications
- Develop compelling cases for support, proposals, and donor materials.
- Create and implement effective stewardship plans to retain and grow donor relationships.
- Collaborate with communications and programs to share impact stories and increase visibility.

You are a skilled builder—capable of envisioning the big picture, developing a thoughtful plan, and collaborating with others to bring it to fruition. You have secured significant philanthropic support, inspired Boards to broaden their fundraising efforts, and led teams to achieve ambitious goals. You are energized by creating and refining initiatives, with a readiness to embrace new ideas—whether through emerging technologies, innovative donor engagement strategies, or data-informed decision-making— and you excel at turning vision into action.
Above all, you are mission-driven, adaptable, and dedicated to helping RiseBoro realize its full potential in transforming communities.
Ideal qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies across multiple revenue streams.
- Experience cultivating and managing donor relationships, with a record of securing significant contributions, five-plus figures, from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Ability to engage and support Board members and senior leaders as active fundraising partners.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute plans and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to inspire donors and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and fundraising tools.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with a collaborative work style.
- Passion for RiseBoro’s mission and commitment to advancing its impact.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $200,000 – $229,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
