The New York City Police Foundation (NYCPF) was established in 1971 as an independent nonprofit organization that provides resources for the NYPD to innovate and enhance the quality of its services, build bridges with the community, and make New York City a safer place to live, work and visit.
The New York City Police Foundation supports vital public safety programs that fight crime and terrorism; strengthens communities by building trust between the NYPD and the people they serve; sponsors scholarships, valued trainings, and mental health and wellness initiatives for officers; and makes significant investments in innovative technology and enhancements to NYPD facilities, helping to ensure the Department has the necessary tools to perform their duties across all commands.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NYCPF is seeking a Development Manager to report to the Director of Development & Events to support NYCPF’s fundraising and events functions and related activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Fundraising
- Support the CEO and Director of Development & Events in donor cultivation efforts.
- Responsible for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for gifts of $1,000 – $10,000.
- Help identify major gift prospects among existing and prospective donors, conducting research and creating profiles.
- Coordinate with the Database Manager to update and maintain all development lists, serving as back-up in daily and weekly reporting.
Events
- Annual Gala: Work closely with the Director of Development & Events on all aspects of the Annual Gala, including:
- Help secure and track all Gala solicitations.
- Work closely with event planners on vendors, logistics, and planning of the event; serve as lead contact for the designer on all gala materials.
- Adhere to production/logistics timelines to ensure successful implementation and execution of fundraising event strategies.
- Annual Journal: Manage the production of the Annual Journal, including:
- Help secure and track all journal solicitations; track artwork submissions and ensure sponsorship benefit fulfillment.
- Coordinate design, proofing, and print schedules with graphic designers and printers.
- Draft/update editorial content, design journal ads where needed.
- Special Events:
- Lead all aspects of other special events, campaigns, and activities to raise money, cultivate prospective donors, or recognize current donors.
- Assist the Program Manager in purchasing plaques for NYPD/NYCPF events such as dedication ceremonies/ribbon cuttings, memorials, and award ceremonies.
Marketing & Communications
- Support the production of various publications, i.e. Annual Report and Canine & Friends calendar.
- Assist with the design and production of other organizational materials such as brochures, reports, presentations, and one-sheets as needed.
ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The Development Manager will be a proactive, highly organized, and mission-aligned professional with experience in nonprofit development, event planning, or a similar role. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative team player who brings energy, initiative, and a can-do approach to their work.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience planning, coordinating, and executing events, including managing logistics, vendor relationships, and guest communications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage donors and stakeholders across backgrounds and build lasting relationships.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a track record of structured, goal- driven outreach.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, while thriving as a collaborative member of a small and agile team.
- Experience in administration, customer service, or volunteer management is preferred.
- Marketing experience or familiarity with communications platforms is a plus.

COMPENSATION: Salary of $95,000 plus generous benefits.
LOCATION & EXPECTATIONS: This is a hybrid position, expected to be in the NYC office 3 days per week in midtown Manhattan.
