The New York Milk Bank
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Since 2016, The New York Milk Bank (NYMB) has been dedicated to improving the health and survival of infants in need by providing them with pasteurized donor human milk when their mothers’ own milk is unavailable or insufficient. NYMB is committed to ensuring the highest product safety and quality and to reducing health disparities in the use and distribution of donor milk. Donor milk is distributed to patients at hospitals or at home with a physician’s prescription.
NYMB also serves as a resource hub, promoting access to local lactation professionals and support coalitions, organizing awareness events, and mobilizing a network of volunteers for tasks including donor screening, and emergency milk pickups and deliveries. NYMB is also a clinical site for local colleges and universities for undergraduate and graduate students in nutrition and dietetics.
