ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Girls Who Invest (GWI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing gender diversity and inclusion in investment management with a focus on growing the pipeline of women in frontline investing positions. The organization accomplishes this through education, mentoring, internships, and a supportive community. Its flagship summer program enables college sophomores to explore investment management careers through four weeks of free educational training with top university professors, followed by a six week paid internship at one of more than 100 leading investment management firms in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. Scholars unable to commit 10 weeks to the program can apply for GWI’s four month, fully subsidized, self-directed Online Intensive Program. In addition, all scholars receive support and career guidance from a community of partners, mentors, and alumni. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Development Manager is a new position designed to build on the rapid success of Girls Who Invest and grow and formalize its fundraising program. This role will report to the Head of Partnerships and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other senior leadership to substantially increase the base of donors and support.
This Development Manager will develop and oversee a diverse funding portfolio including influential/philanthropic individuals, foundations, and other key funding organizations. Responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts, the Development Manager will also design and implement key systems, processes, and procedures for fundraising.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Work with senior leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive and ambitious development strategy to provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for GWI.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from new and existing individuals, foundations, and other avenues of potential revenue.
- Create and implement appropriate systems and procedures to support fundraising including the implementation of a Fundraising CRM, a moves management process, and a major gift program.
- Create and coordinate patron receptions, events and other stewardship activities.
- Develop and track proposals and reports for all institutional fundraising as well as perform proper data entry and gift processing.
- Provide and present statistical analysis around fundraising to board and senior leaders as well as supporting them in their fundraising efforts.
ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
The Development Manager should be an experienced, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated professional who is energized to tackle sizable goals and make an impact. The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute a robust fundraising plan as well as bring a hands-on style in creating and implementing a variety of fundraising activities.
A strong candidate would bring/be:
- Minimum prior professional experience of 5 years in a nonprofit organization in a development function or comparable.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; demonstrated ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
- Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated donor relationships as well as secured new donors and gifts.
- Ability to rapidly transition from the highly innovative and strategic to the tactical.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to identify and develop processes and implement systems to improve fundraising efficiencies.
- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also function as a team player who will take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- High energy and passion for GWI’s mission is essential.
- Knowledge of Fundraising CRMs such as: Salesforce and Raiser’s Edge.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required.
