ABOUT HEARTSHARE HUMAN SERVICES OF NEW YORK

HeartShare is a New York City-based organization dedicated to fighting for and lifting up those who are too often underserved and overlooked. The organization supports two key populations: (1) individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and (2) children and families dealing with the trauma related to family separation, poverty and mental illness. Both sides of the organization currently operate separately, focusing on their specific communities, but they will begin to become more closely integrated.

Since 1914, HeartShare has been dedicated to New York City’s most vulnerable, empowering individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to reach their full potential through education, vocational training, the arts, housing, family support and long-term therapy services. The HeartShare School offers quality education and therapies to children with autism. And HeartShare Wellness provides therapies and counseling, as well as case management to those with developmental disabilities and people with chronic conditions.

For over 150 years, HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) has worked to equalize opportunities for those who need it most. Every year, over 6,000 New Yorkers are supported through adoption, foster care, mental health and youth and family programs. Founded in 1869 as a home for young working boys, HSVS today provides comprehensive and holistic services to New Yorkers of all ages.
